When is the last time you got a truly unexpected gift from a friend? Today our new mail carrier delivered a surprising package that simply delighted my wife! (And no, it wasn’t the mailman himself!)

One of Heather’s favorite former colleagues at the Cincinnati Public Library sent her a box full of Spring! Everything in it was bright yellow, from the kitchen towels, poppy seeds and book light to the lolly pops, bottle of bubbles and the lemon Oreos. The box was full of whimsy and  joy and was totally unique. Through its simplicity the gift was a box of sunshine.

Next time you want to send someone a surprise gift, consider sending a ‘bit of sunshine.’ Although this idea would obviously work for lots of other occasions too, and the colors could change appropriately. For example, a romantic occasion could call for a splash of red or perhaps you could send a splash of blue if your friend loves the sea. Just toss in a bit of sand and a few seashells.
