For those of you who know how much we love to cook, I have a confession to make. There are plenty of times we just feel like munching. With busy schedules, making full-blown dinners for just the two of us can be a bit of a chore. There are lots of nights we just want something fast, easy, and yummy that we can nosh on while watching the latest episode of our favorite crime dramas. I am a child of the sea. From the time I was a little boy and my parents would take me to the beach in Los Angeles, I loved everything about the ocean: the smell of tangy salt air, watching the waves crash against the shore, sailing across its tides, swimming against the current, and exploring all the life that makes its home there. The oceans of the world rejuvenate and fascinate me, which is why I’ll never forget the first time I slipped on my goggles and saw a whole new world fathoms below the surface. We have always loved the theatre. In fact, for our very first date we went to go see the deliciously dark Jekyll & Hyde, and its score has entranced us ever since. We relish opportunities to watch amazing actors perform live in shows like The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Cabaret, Chicago, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Gypsy. Ever since I was a boy in Mrs. Harris’s seventh grade world geography class, I have anxiously awaited each issue of National Geographic. The yellow box on the cover always seemed like a magic telescope that allowed me to peer into other places and cultures where I discovered untold wonders and met fascinating people. That’s a feeling I still get to this day, whether I’m reading the magazine or watching a Nat Geo documentary. Now National Geographic is igniting our wanderlust once again with its second edition of Journeys of a Lifetime: 500 of the World’s Greatest Trips, published on the 10th anniversary of the original edition’s initial release date.
