Barbra Streisand To Release New Broadway Themed Album [VIDEOS]

On the heels of her 2014 number one album Partners, legendary songstress Barbra Streisand returns to her Broadway roots with the release of the forthcoming album, Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, which arrives in stores on Aug. 26th.

This time out she is joined by some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Patrick Wilson, Anthony Newley, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Melissa McCarthy, Seth MacFarlane, Antonio Banderas, Chris Pine, and Jamie Foxx.

The first single from the album is “At the Ballet,” which Streisand borrows from her longtime music director and late friend Marvin Hamlisch’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, A Chorus Line.

For this recording, Streisand invited Anne Hathaway and recent newcomer Daisy Ridley (she played Rey in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens) to help her bring Sheila, Phoebe and Maggie to life as they audition for a Broadway show.

We already knew Hathaway could sing after her Oscar-winning turn as Fantine in Les Misérables. But who knew Ridley had pipes? Streisand admits she was as surprised as we were when she found out. Yet the trio’s dynamic performance is pure magic! Take a listen below.

If you pre-order Encore now on iTunes and Amazon, you’ll get a download of “At the Ballet” immediately. The album will also be released on CD and Vinyl. You can also purchase the deluxe CD at Target which features Babs singing four additional bonus tracks not available on the standard album.
