Jeffery Deaver’s ‘Solitude Creek’ Will Turn Your World Upside Down And Inside Out [REVIEW]

In Jeffery Deaver’s latest novel, Solitude Creek, a killer is obsessed with using people’s own fears against them as the ultimate weapon. As panic spreads across the Monterrey Peninsula, California Bureau of Investigation kinesics expert Kathryn Dance returns to solve the case before the killer can strike again.
This is Deaver’s fourth Kathryn Dance novel, but it is the first time I’ve read one of his books that wasn’t a Lincoln Rhyme thriller. Not knowing what to expect, I had to wonder if Kathryn would hold my attention to the same degree Lincoln does. The answer is a resounding yes!
I love the Dance character because she is a fascinating, unique, and quirky woman who beats to her own drummer. The fact that she is a professional body language expert is both a brilliant choice on the author’s part, and something that is entirely original.
I can totally relate to Kathryn, however, as she watches different characters, trying to pick up clues and uncover the underlying meaning behind their actions in specific circumstances. Deaver excels at displaying her abilities in this latest addition to the series.
He also proves once again that he is quite skilled at weaving tightly plotted suspense thrillers with plenty of red herrings. Throughout the novel, I felt as if I was one step behind the killer, and yet to Deaver’s credit I could never quite guess when or how the villain was going to strike next.
Packed with imaginative, nail-biting action; power struggles between bosses and co-workers; a conniving killer and a leading lady unlike any other in popular fiction, and you have mayhem on a grand scale. Don’t miss being manipulated by the master, Jeffery Deaver. Read Solitude Creek!
