Are you always hungry? Then you might not be getting enough fiber in your diet. According to Everyday Health, men should get between 30 to 38 grams of fiber per day. Women between 18 and 50 should get 25 grams per day, and 21 grams per day if she is 51 and older. So what should you eat to banish that growling, demanding monster residing in your stomach? If you grew up in the South like I did, you know that every time there is a gathering, whether it is for a wedding, funeral or even a community picnic, someone will undoubtedly bring a casserole dish filled with chicken spaghetti. It is simply one of those staples that every Southern woman (and many of the men) seems to know how to make, and everyone’s recipe is just a bit different from the last. As a kid, Frito Pie was always one of my favorite school lunches. It was crunchy, cheesy and simply good, filling grub. But one of the things I didn’t like about it is that sometimes it was a little too oily, which wasn’t a good thing for a teenager worried about his complexion. Now I’ve replaced half the meat with ground turkey, added more seasoning for a deeper flavor profile, and even thrown in a bit of corn meal for extra creaminess. I’m always looking for new ways to add vegetables to my diet, particularly carrots since they have such great health benefits. This powerful orange root veggie is chock full of beta carotene, fiber, antioxidants, not to mention vitamins A, C, K, B8, and other powerful nutrients. As a result, they not only improve our eyesight but also helps lower the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease.
