Growing up in the South, I came to love barbecue with all the fixings from an early age. It didn’t matter if it was beef brisket or pulled pork, I quickly developed a hankering for sticky, charred, finger-licking goodness served up with a huge dollop of potato salad and sweet banana pudding for dessert. Of course, you never get the same barbecue recipe at any two restaurants, because everyone has their own take on how to make it and every region seems to have their own type of sauce. This is exactlly why I love Matt Moore’s new cookbook, The South’s Best Butts. He’s traveled the South from the Carolina’s to Texas in search of barbecue perfection and now he’s sharing his discoveries with the rest of us! Glen Erik Hamilton is one of those writers, and we are so excited for his success. Here’s why… Continue reading “Glen Erik Hamilton’s New Book Is Coming”

Don’t Get Scammed By ‘the IRS’ [VIDEO]

Worried man on phone
Don’t let scammers posing as the IRS take you to the cleaners. (Photo by Alon, Flickr)

A few weeks ago, I received a voice mail message that I needed to contact the IRS immediately or else I was going to be arrested. Since I file my own taxes, my first reaction was, “Oh no! What did I do wrong?” But then I remembered reading Catherine Ryan Hyde’s Allie and Bea, where a senior citizen is scammed by someone claiming to be the IRS and I thought, “I’d better investigate!” Continue reading “Don’t Get Scammed By ‘the IRS’ [VIDEO]”
