Sometimes circumstances have a way of changing the direction of our life. Gabriel Mannion discovers what these words mean in spades. After he experiences a panic attack while carrying the casket of his friend and mentor, Gabe scoffs at the idea that he needs to slow down. What does an emergency room doctor know anyway? He doesn’t know me or my life, Gabe thinks.

Reluctantly, however, he takes a leave of absence from his job on Wall Street to return to his hometown, Honeymoon Harbor. It is here that Gabe learns to evaluate what is truly important and what it takes to be content and complete within himself. It certainly doesn’t hurt that he finds himself attracted to the town librarian, Chelsea Prescott.

As Gabe and Chelsea encounter different obstacles along the way, each of them must ask themselves what they are really looking for in life and how does family, career and personal values effect your goals and dreams.

In Summer on Mirror Lake, JoAnn Ross weaves a captivating story populated by colorful characters that jump right off the page. I immediately found myself intrigued by the Mannion family and was so enthralled by them, I found myself wishing I could be part of their clan too. From the opening chapter until the final page, I was transfixed as Gabe and his brothers communicated in a way we should all emulate. They spoke from the heart and their dialogue sparkled with love and respect throughout. This awesome sense of family and what it truly means to belong makes Summer on Mirror Lake one beach read you’ll never want to end.
