Sunshine and Margot are two sisters on very different paths. Raised by their great-grandmother, each of them yearns for love and family, but so far their dreams have gone unfulfilled. Yet now their unique family dynamic is pushing both of them to examine their lives and make some much-needed changes.

Margot, an etiquette coach, takes on a new client: movie legend Bianca Wray, a woman whose social graces need polished so she doesn’t disgrace her foreign diplomat fiance. However, Bianca is proving to be more of a challenge than Margot initially thought, and suddenly she is left wondering if she is really up to the task.

Meanwhile, Sunshine works as a nanny, bouncing from one family to another in her pursuit of true love, never staying long at any one post. In her wake she leaves a trail of chaos and confusion. When she finally realizes that the love she’s been chasing is nothing but simple infatuation, she decides to break her pattern and become a responsible adult, and to do so she must return to college and finish her degree.

With The Summer of Sunshine and Margot, Mallery creates two very authentic characters who are both relatable and deeply flawed. Yet it is their complexity which endears them to us and will have readers cheering them on as they pursue their goals.

In relating their tale, the author questions everything the two sisters believe and feel, and thus raises the ever important question: How do we make sense of our past while simultaneously making strides in the present? It is a conundrum with an elusive, but ultimately satisfying answer, one which reminds us that if we are properly motivated to make changes in our lives, anything is possible.

So relax, let Mallery take the wheel, and enjoy the view because The Summer of Sunshine and Margot is a delightful journey you won’t soon forget.
