Counting Miracles: A Tale of Love and Redemption

The worldwide phenomenon The Notebook first hit store shelves on October 1, 1996. Since then, Nicholas Sparks has continually found new ways to make us cry, heal our wounds, and touch our hearts. Now with the publication of Counting Miracles, the bestselling author does it again.

This time around, Sparks introduces us to former Army Ranger Tanner Hughes, a hunky rolling stone of a man who has no desire whatsoever to settle down. (Hmm, sounds like Alan Ritchson’s character in Reacher. Must be why he is slated to play the part in the upcoming film adaptation!)

When his grandmother dies and leaves Hughes with a shocking revelation that upends his life—the name of the father he never knew—Tanner returns to his hometown of Asheboro, North Carolina to learn more.

Once he arrives, he meets Dr. Kaitlyn Cooper, an attractive, divorced single mom of two who is drawn to the enigmatic Hughes, and it doesn’t take long for sparks to fly, despite the fact that Hughes has to be moving on to his next posting in just a few weeks. There is no promise of a lasting relationship here.

Meanwhile, 83-year-old Jasper, is a loner living with his dog, Arlo, on the fringes of a national forest. When he hears about a mythical white deer in the woods, he becomes obsessed with protecting it from poachers.

As Sparks delves deeper into this multi-tiered novel, his two parallel stories eventually converge with surprising results. Emotionally charged, heartfelt, and compelling, this languid tale of second chances, redemption, and the truth that sets us free will speak to Sparks fans everywhere.

Nicholas Sparks is one of the world’s most beloved storytellers. All of his books have been New York Times bestsellers, with over 130 million copies sold worldwide, in more than 50 languages, including over 92 million copies in the United States alone.
