All home cooks, listen up! Lakeside Refrigerated Services in Swedesboro, New Jersey issued a recall yesterday on 120,872 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated by E. coli O103. So before you make your next meal, you need to check the label.

If you don’t recognize the company name, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have anything to worry about. The beef is sold under different labels, including Thomas Farms, SEG, Nature’s Reserve, Tajima beef patties, and Marketside Butcher Wagyu beef. These products are sold in stores across the country.

Before you toss all the ground beef in your fridge or freezer, check the dates on each package. The recalled products were produced between February 1 and April 8 and will have the establishment number “EST. 46841” inside the USDA inspection mark. Please make sure you read the labels carefully.

If you do have the contaminated product in your possession, either return it to the store or throw it away. You don’t want to get sick from bad meat! According to the CDC, eating products contaminated with the E. coli bacteria can result in everything from nausea, cramps, vomiting and diarrhea to kidney failure and death. So please take this warning seriously!
