Glen Erik Hamilton’s New Book Is Coming

We review books because we love reading them. But now that we’ve been doing this a while, we’ve also come to love the people who write them, the folks who publish them, and the army who publicizes them. It’s a fun group, and I’ve come to realize that most of us would do this without any accolades, simply because we love getting great books into the hands of the masses. And sometimes, when we’re especially on point (and because we have made great connections), we discover amazing new authors long before they become household names. Glen Erik Hamilton is one of those writers, and we are so excited for his success. Here’s why…

First of all, Glen is simply one heck of a nice guy. Of course, there’s that irrepressible, affable grin of his that simply invites conversation. But the truth of the matter is, he’s always been accessible and super friendly, whether we’re tweeting back and forth with him or doing a Q&A for the Jathan & Heather blog. He’s simply one of the good guys we can’t help but cheer for.

Then there’s the fact that he is one of those success stories aspiring writers cling to as they’re dreaming of publication themselves. He started out with humble beginnings like so many do, but went the extra step and went to an International Thriller Writers convention for a little extra insight. It led to a book deal and publication of his first book, Past Crimes. Nothing like a good success story to give you a little additional incentive!

Most of all, we love Glen’s work. He is a gifted wordsmith who knows how to ratchet up the suspense. Plus he has a real knack for creating less-than-perfect characters who are impossible to resist. It’s no wonder he won a Macavity Award for Best First Mystery. And now, his beloved Van Shaw is on his way to bookstore shelves with a brand new story, Every Day Above Ground. It will land on July 25, but be sure to order now!

Of course, every now and then, we get thanked in return. There are always the comments made on our site and social media channels and the emails that come in from writers thanking us for our review. But there’s also those times when we pick up a copy of an author’s book and see that an excerpt from one of our reviews has been included in the front of their book. That happened today when I went to Kroger and happened to pick up the paperback edition of Glen’s Hard Cold Winter. There we were, excerpted in black and white. That’s always a bit of a thrill and a nice acknowledgment of our efforts to spread the word about great books.

We want to thank Glen for being such a great guy, and for sharing his indisputable talents with the world. We wish him many future successes. Now if he’ll just be sure to get the new book in our hands STAT so we can be among the first to read this one too. Hint, hint!
